From the October issue

Sometimes a seller credit beats a price cut.

When homes sit a little longer, sellers are often more open to concessions. A credit toward buying down your interest rate can lower your monthly payment more than knocking the same amount off the price. Before you write an offer, ask your lender to run it both ways.
